| Pat Goeldner has been involved with CCH/FP almost since the organization’s founding, joining the board in 1995 representing Church of the Pilgrims. She has served as the board’s liaison to congregations for six years, successfully encouraging CCH/FP’s congregational partners to increase both their volunteer involvement and their financial investment in our mission. “This is truly a community organization, representing neighbors and congregations who are really committed to helping our homeless neighbors re-enter the life of the community,” says Pat. “As co-president I look forward to sparking the tremendous energy of our board members.” In her professional capacity, Pat has always been involved in social service delivery; she has worked with refugees and in hospice care, and is now working with IONA Senior Services. |
Jane Stein is a member of the Community Issues/Social Action Committee at Washington Hebrew Congregation, which hasbeen involved withCCH/FP since its founding. For the past two Christmas weekends, Jane has brought volunteers from the congregation to keep the Friendship Place drop-in center open for two hospitality days so that the staff could get some time off and the clients still have a place to have coffee, chat and stay warm. “Working in the CCH/FP office actually gave me a better understanding of what goes on at CCH/FP than all my years of attending quarterly board meetings,” Jane says.“As a result, I got more involved and...here I am, co-president.” In her new position, Jane would like to reduce the number of homeless people on our streets through shelters, and temporary and permanent housing; and raise the profile of CCH/FP in the community through efforts of the board’s new Education-Advocacy Committee. As writer, editor, publisher and business owner in the health area, Jane understands the importance of people working together to achieve a common goal. She alsohas written extensively about mental illness and substance abuse, which are issues many of CCH/FP’s clients face. |
