Fannie Mae organizes the Help the Homeless Walkathon every year. It started in 1987 with 150 Fannie Mae employees walking through Rock Creek Park. Last year on the 20th anniversary, over 125,000 people participated in the Walkathon and mini-walks! They raised over $7.1 million, which was distributed to 175 area homeless service providers.
CCHFP is one of those providers because we take care of our less fortunate neighbors in Ward 3 with outreach, hospitality, free health care, supportive services, shelters, and permanent housing. For more information visit What We Do.
The 21st Annual Help the Homeless Walkathon will be on Saturday, November 22nd.
New for 2008: Friendship Place walkers will meet at a location TBD on the National Mall between 7th and 14th streets to enjoy coffee, donuts, and bagels before starting off on our walk together! Walkers travel a scenic 5k around the Mall and Tidal Basin.
