Every good mini-walk contains:
- a presentation on homelessness and what we can do to help end it.
- a symbolic walk around your school, neighborhood, or community.
- youth who want to make a difference in their community!
A mini-walk makes it easier for youth to participate in Help the Homeless. A mini-walk can be held by a local school, house of worship, rscout troop, you name it! Any organized group of youths, such as an elementary school or Boy Scouts, can hold a walk. Adults who run the youth group as well as family and friends are welcome to join in the walk.
All DC Public and Public Charter Schools are partnered with homeless service agencies and encouraged to hold mini-walks. Private schools and youth groups in DC, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland and Northern Virginia are also invited to have a mini-walk.
Mini-walks were created to reach people who may not be able to attend the Walkathon. Visit our "What’s a Walkathon?", page for a history of Help the Homeless. If you want to walk in both a mini-walk and the Walkathon, you must register and pay the fee for both walks.
