Jill Carmichael grew up in southern California and began working at a domestic violence shelter for women while attending Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA where she received a BA in Psychology. Following college, Jill worked at a community residential facility working with adults dually diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse. Jill then moved to the east coast to attend Virginia Commonwealth University and obtain a Masters in Social Work.

Jill has continued her work in the nonprofit sector including legislative work and organizing work in Virginia, working with HIV and AIDS in Washington, DC; and now is very excited to be working with Friendship Place and the Neighbors First Program.

Jill is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and a Licensed Graduate Social Worker. Jill lives in the District in Columbia Heights, plays on a volleyball team, and loves any outdoor activity. When the weather gets nice you will probably find her camping at the beach or hiking at Great Falls.
