Sean Read grew up in Central Pennsylvania along the banks of the Susquehanna River in the small town of Clearfield. He received his BA in Psychology from Houghton College (NY), with a concentration in developmental and youth studies. Following graduation from Houghton, Sean immediately relocated to Buffalo, NY to begin work with a non-profit specializing in services to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Initially starting in direct care services with an adult day habilitation program, Sean has spent the last 2 years as a Behavior Specialist, working with children in a school setting. In addition to his work, Sean also served on the agency’s Human Rights Committee, provided behavior consultations in schools throughout the Buffalo Metro region, and as a crisis intervention trainer with the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. In 2010, Sean decided to return to school, and currently attends Virginia Tech’s Northern Virginia Center where he is working on his Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. He joined the Neighbors First team as a case manager in March 2011.
During his spare time, Sean enjoys spending time with his wife, the outdoors, running, playing guitar, cooking, and planning his next international adventure.
